Nice shot mate, well executed. I was just wondering - why the 1/50 second shutter speed? It looks like everything is lit by only the flash, which means you could have done it at max sync speed.

Thanks. I probably could have gotten the same results with a higher flash power and faster synch speed, and I actually don't remember what led me to the settings you see here. I think I knew I wanted the flash to be subtle so I dialed down the EV and then just manipulated the exposure until I saw what I wanted. And, since I was standing very still, the 1/50th wasn't a problem...

Flash isn't influenced by the shutter speed (as long as it's not shorter than the sync), so you wouldn't have to dial up your flash to get the same exposure. By getting a faster shutter you would have an easier time getting a dark background, though.
