Oh, and focus....I took a piece of card with some text on it and placed it in the water where I was to drop and manually focused before the actual shots.

For the first I put a black bin liner in the bottom of the tray to prevent any color coming from underneath. I then used some extremely colourful wrapping paper which I positioned behind the tray until the whole frame (when looking through the camera at the tray) was filled with the reflection of the paper.

Water

The second was much easier as the pink is the actual colour of the tray.

Pink Water

I love that first one ,you did it with no lights on ,only your flash , now you know I will have to try that LOL , it is addicitive . thanks for sharing yet another way of captuering water droplets .

I'm hooked!
Yup addicitive , love the flower reflection in the droplet ,for me I found that shooting straight on to the drop gave me the best focus on a reflection . Like = Camera ----------- droplet = sharp reflection

Good Drop but you are getting some flash back you may find that getting down closer to the warer and not aiming the flash on the water helpful ,it can take a 100 drops to get 1 that leaves you WOW wanting more addicitive .also try a clorful plate or bowl to catch the water in , it can give you some cool effects .Have fun .

Dear Snapdragan,
This is the first time I am responding to a thread. I am not sure if I am doing it correctly but here goes...
Thanks for showing how you took the water drops on your apple...just wonderful. I wish that I could go home from work right now and try it out.

How do I go to your pisca accout? I would like to see your other pictures of drops.

I love my camera and really started taking pictues last year. My kids are grown and moved away and it had been a while since they let me take pictures of them so I have moved on to other things and WOW it is a lot more fun than taking their pictures.;0)

Thank you so much ,glad that you posted ,I love my camera too wish I has a better one but am finding ways to enjoy useing what I have , the water droplets are fun ,you can see the other photos on my picasa acc by clicking on the album that is a few pages back in this thread . That will take you to the album , a slide show of 8 or more shots . have fun catching your own ,and i will tell you the apple is the easiest one to focuse on ,as you can get the water hitting on the apple stem and get your droplet in focus useing the tip of the stem as the area of focus ,other things require a card and more hands than one can find . when first trying this I found .

I played around some tonight just to kill a few minutes.. so my setup wasn't perfect but I got a couple images that are fun. Was shooting in the dark with flash as the only light source this time.

Love this shot, but I shot off center, so did a creative crop.
