The photo was taken with the settings of 35mm lens, ISO 400, F/4, 1/200 sync flash.
I was being bored and wanted to mess around with my camera creating something eye catching. I've always like the fact that you can create certain illusions when it comes to photography using your camera at the right moment with the right settings. To create the image above, you'll need... Equipment: 35mm F/1.8 lens (or any lens other lens is fine), ML-L3 Remote, Tripod, External Flash ex. Nikon SB-600 or greater, white wall/back drop with white ceiling, and most importantly little things that you want to show off like Push Pins, Lego Blocks, Skittles, etc. As you put your flash onto your camera (Don't forget to lock it once it's in place!!!), you first set the flash through auto mode aka TTL (Through The Lens) Mode, it should automatically read the focal length, ex. using a 35mm lens, the flash would read 35mm on the screen when you turn on the camera and aim the flash at 90 degrees towards the ceiling. Depending on what model camera you have will vary between how fast the flash sync speed is capable of...such as myself owning the D60, I can sync up to 1/200 sec. Crank up to the fullest speed. 2nd, Place the camera onto the tripod and place the tripod at least about 2 1/2 to 3 feet away depending on your arm span from the wall so your camera can focus on your hand later on. Set the camera into a portrait angle. Go to the menu screen and look for the 2 second remote timer and set it. 3rd, Stand in front of the camera hold out your palm, and holding the remote with your other hand take a test shot by pressing the remote, letting it autofocus on your hand, and you should hear the 2 second timer going off before it takes the test shot. You should clearly see your hand in focus and yourself out of focus depending the aperture setting. 4th, Now grab your item you're planning to toss up, stand in front of the camera and turn to your side so you can hide remote, press the remote, and you should hear the camera focusing on your hand and the timer will start, right before the time goes off, toss the items into the air just a little a bit and stretch out your hands as if you have the ability to levitate objects and remain still throughout the shot so there's no motion around the hand. Take many shots as you can or until you're bored and tired of picking up the items off the floor after each shot. F/4 had a nice depth of field to focus on the pins just enough for the pins that flew to the side, towards or backwards from the camera. Have Fun!~

I guess I was just lazy to measure distance correctly for manual focusing and I just got my ML-L3 remote so I wanted to test it out...not to mention this was done around 1am so I was just fooling around. I'll try manual focusing sometime soon
