I'm new to photography. Got my Canon EOS 400D just after Christmas. You can't really go far wrong if you follow the advice in the first post. Patience, patience and patience is a must though.

Is there any suggestions on how to improve (camera angle, crops, lighting, etc)? I know I can't control the water shape, so I just keep hoping for good ones. Patience, patience, patience.
These are from my second attempt.

Just try, try and try again. It really is down to luck I think. Love the crowning effect you've captured on the second shot.

Thanks mackenziedawn I think that's one of my favourites too. I've edited it slightly by removing some of the little reflections on the right side of the droplet.

Like the colour of yours Matt. What did you use?
It was just water in a plastic camping plate with a white plate underneath. Don't think I'll try it with the cooking oil, coffee or milk - I made enough mess as it was with just water! These are all looking great though...

Yeah, my canon 60mm f/2.8 macro. Trouble is I am now addicted to taking these kind of shots. I keep thinking of new bowls, glasses, liquids to try

I've been trying all day, and have deleted hundreds of poor attempts. My problem is that my camera doesn't have a fast enough shutterspeed setting. I'm going to continue trying, although my hopes aren't up too high. Once I get my Canon XT-I, things will be different. (I'm using a Sony P&S.) My goal is to try to get numerous airborne droplets from a glass of Alka-Seltzer. Has anyone else tried this? In theory, it should look sweet.
