Cool The Red Pill

This image was taken using Bulb mode. I was at my friends house where she had this small crystal lamp that looked like a mushroom. I sat down still and she would open the shutter then lock it. She would shine the laser pointer at the lamp which made it glow and cast red around me. Then she would highlight me with the laser pointer. I have several images like this. I really like doing these types of photos becuase your never sure what your going to get. In the future I would like to be further from the camera but zoomed in and get more even lighting with the laser pointer. My right arm isn't lit as well and the right side of the image looks kind of bad.

You can see other pictures like this on my flickr page

Camera: Canon EOS 20D
Exposure: 75 sec (75)
Aperture: f/11
Focal Length: 31 mm
ISO Speed: 1600

I've tried camera movement but it really blurs the image it would take some practice to get it right. It's really easy to blow the image out with a laser pretty hard to judge how bright something will be.

It's also fun to write an image on the wall and see how accurate you got it. My friend could sign her name on the wall pretty good and I could draw a good house as well along with a smilie which was easy and a pac-man.

It looks fantastic. I've tried a little work along these lines (my incense smoke set) but haven't yet come across a narrow enough beamed light to try what you have done.

Definitely a cool effect. If I had a shutter remote, I'd try it.
