I would like suggestions on how to take the best quality digital photo of a negative for the purposes of analyzing the photo. For example, i have old aerial photography that is too expensive to reproduce using a scanner, so the best way to capture the image is using my digital camera. I get fairly good results by using Photoshop to convert the digital negative to a positive image, but I sometimes get a little too much light. The negatives are sitting on a back-lit table with flourescent light. Does anyone have a suggestion on getting the best image with the custom settings on the camera?
I use the 3072x2304 RAW/TIFF setting to capture the images but sometimes the lighting is wrong and causes shadowing. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you |

What problems are you having?
As far as settings go, I'd go with a low ISO and a medium-ish aperture. What kinds of shadowing are you talking about. IIRC, negative scanners shine light from both sides of the negative. |
