Default Light at the end of the Tunnel

Corina

I put the pocket wizard on my camera (could use a master flash turned to off). The flash was set directly behind her on a stand. 1/200, F-7, ISO 100. I made sure the tunnel would be completely underexposed since we were shooting after the sun had gone down. This would allow the flash to be the only available light source. I had a medium size reflector in front of me over which I shot. The light from behind then bounced back to illuminate her. I shot some without the flash flare showing but this was definitely my favorite.

I'd have greatly preferred it if her head had blocked the actual flash and we had just seen the halo around her head. This, to me, would have been a reject, but a good concept to retry.

I really like this photograph! It all depends on what you are trying to get through to the viewer. If it was for a portrait then maybe her head should have covered the flash alittle more so that we could see her instead. But if it was the effect of the tunnel or the clothing that the lady is wearing that the photography wannted to make POP then this photo is just awesome! I would absolutely call this one a keeper! I kinda enjoy that the flash interfers with her face, cause my eye keeps wandering too everywhere else the light is hitting:-)

Really interesting concept, I love it, but alas, I agree with the others, the head should have covered the flash as is distracts the eye from everything else in the scene.

It was definitely for artistic reasons and not just for the portrait aspect. I went through the others and liked this one because the flash made it a little unusual.

I like it too, but agree with others, It would be very cool if the flash was covered by the head.

amy,

Just checked your webpage, your pictures are EXTREMELY clear, what equipment do you use, and how much of the clarity is due to digitally enhancement?

I have a canon 5d mkII. I use PS3 for editing but these didn't require too much in photoshop as I had good lighting that night. The picture above was taken using a pocket wizard and off camera flash.
