What would you do if you just happened across another photog's site that looks EXACTLY like yours (well, my old one). She is relatively in the same area, using my old vendor, AND her verbage is similar to mine. If not identical...

Granted, my page looks NOTHING like hers now - THANK GOODNESS...

Yeah.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

They didn't use your logos or anything like that. Did they?

I would revel in the fact that I've moved on to bigger, better things while she is using your throwaways

10 years ago a professional photographer actually stole one of my QTVR photographs of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge and pasted this file into his web page to promote his struggling photography website/business. It was so easy to just lift it off from a website. I will just let karma run it's course...
This is where he lifted my image...
Quicktime VR movie - Studio Scene
Justice will be done, eventually...

(Note: To view the QTVR, please click and drag on the image. Thanks)

I'd ignore it and get on with my life.

Imitation and borrowing of ideas and "looks" is a foundation of creative works. T. S. Eliot wrote: "Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal".

Unless she's trying to pass herself off as you, or your photos off as hers, she's not doing anything wrong.

Consider this: your photos probably look similar to the objects that you photographed.

Happens all the time...we're all guilty of it.

When I started my photo booth business, I looked at other people's booths and websites and gathered ideas. Then I compiled all the ideas I liked and made my booth and website. My packages are very similar to those offered by other companies, and my booth looks a lot like some other booths around the country.

Six months ago anothr photobooth company started up 60 miles away from me. Their pricing and packaging was almost identical to ours. It didn't really matter to us, since we already have an established name, a bigger market, and more experience. If they were "stealing" sales from us, it wasn't enough that we'd care.
