Visit Trondheim, Norway 22th to 27th june 2010

Hi all!

I am a 35 year old tog who live in Trondheim, Norway. For a few months I've been planning this visit on another forum (Read the thread there by following this link, or keep reading the summary here on DPS.) Yesterday someone on Twitter told me it would be interesting if I added a thread here as well, as there might be togs on DPS that would like to spend a week in Trondheim.

The plan is as follows. I will find a guide for the special locations: The cathedral, the huge out-door museum, the fort, and a few more. I will also make sure it is OK to photograph while being guided. We will also do an excursion to Røros, a town on UNESCO's world heritage list. Either by train, or in a rented bus - depending on how many people we are.

Accommodations
If you don't mind a religious sleepover, you can sleep a stones throw from the middle of town, at the Pilegrimsgården (Pilgrim Centre) 300 NOK a night if you share the room with someone else (2-8 people), or 550 NOK if you want the room to yourself. If you go as a group, you'll be able to get a deal here. I will have a chat with the manager (a former colleague of my father) and maybe manage to cut the prices even more.

Trondheim Vandrehjem (Youth Hostel) is located 15 minutes walk from the square. Prices vary between 250 NOK and 600 NOK, depending on size of the room, and if you want a private shower or not.

For hotels, you will end up paying around 1000 NOK a night, or more. Here is a list with several of the hotels in Trondheim. If you find one you think looks ok, please let me know, and I'll tell you if it's good or a joke. Some of the pictures on their websites aren't very accurate, to say the least...

(Rule of thumb, divide NOK by 10 to get approx value in GBP, divide NOK by 6 to get the approx value in USD)
