Default Photography Blog Critique

Hi All,

I have been experimenting with a photography blog for sometime (Dev Wijewardane Photography) but find that i am not attracting too many readers. I was wondering if you could spare a few minutes to have a look at the blog and let me know what you think about it.

My passion is wildlife photography and therefore my blog contains a lot of images of birds (none of them were captive animals). Based on some of the feedback I've got, I'm going to start posting images of varying subjects (landscapes/portraits etc etc).

Here's the link. Dev Wijewardane Photography

Thanks for the time and the feedback.

Cheers
Dev

To be honest, your shots of birds are great. If anything you should spe******e rather than generalise.

I would get your own URL and switch to wordpress if I were you.

I'd also start making friends on Twitter and other social media sites if you're worried about traffic and you might like to learn a little about SEO if you want traffic that are going to turn into customers.

Great site and keep up the awesome effort with those photos!

Where are you advertising your blog? Do you have a facebook or twitter account? How can people know you have a blog if you don't advertise it?

Are you hoping on search engine placement?

If so, lose the free blog, set up your own domain and hosting and get a wordpress theme that's search engine optimised!

I looked at the code and there is 380 lines of code before a single word appears on the page of your site! I reckon I could build 3 entire sites from that much code!

If you can't find find a good template for SEO, learn as much as you can about accessible website design (including semantic markup) and whip something up yourself.

Once you've got something that good for SEO, look at whoring your links as much as possible, also consider a small spend on Google Adwords to help your ranking initially

Good luck
