Default Wildlife Photographer of The Year: Disqualified

BBC News - Wildlife photographer stripped of award

Seems the wild wolf was actually a tame animal for hire.

This is news?

I saw this photo at an exhibit at a local zoo. One of the workers said that the wolf was trained.

Hmm. I wonder why there is such a delay in this coming out.

Sounds like someone needs to review their vetting process...

When I saw this image it screamed "set-up"
How could you possibly get a wolf to jump a fence with perfect lighting come out with no scars

You have to admit, though, he did a great job at 'photoshopping' out the steak dangling from the end of a stick on the other side of the gate.... But seriously, I think it could have been accepted as a pretty cool image if it was presented for what it actually was. But now, it just seems tainted, almost 'dirty'.

The worst thing is that the organisers aren't re-awarding first prize, saving themselves £10,000. Why didn't they disqualify it before giving it 1st prize? Ridiculous!

I agree with gturner. When I first saw it it looked phony. It looked way to staged and yet there were far, far better entries some that really blew me away!

The competition is now open for this years entries:

BWPA - British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010

I have seen so many wonderful photos on SYS that it would be cool if someone won from DPS!
