Default Photographer directory on DPS?

Just throwing this out there.

With DPS as big as it is, I think it would be beneficial if DPS would have a photographer directory. The general public could then be able to search photographers in their state, region, or country. It would be a good source of business for everyone and it would generate tremendous growth for DPS. I'm sure it would easily show up on the first page of search engines.

It could start at the top with Australia (or whatever other country, I just happen to know that we have members in Australia) for instance, then list all the photographers in Australia that signed up. An example for the US would start with the state of Alabama and go alphabetically with the states from there.

Would anyone else be open to this idea?

Can I just say "You got a Prada bag with a lot of stuff in it, Give it to your friend, let's spin" - Is it just me, or do those lyrics just... well... maybe I'm too old!

OK -- So what are we talking about here? Like a database? Or a "By location" - Something people can opt out of? -- I think it's a great idea.

Ideas, people... Keep them coming

I guess sort of a data base by location. It would also be helpful when one is on vacation to check beforehand a database of folks in the area you're visiting instead of posting on DPS, "I'm taking a vacation/holiday to ?????? and is there a DPS member nearby to hook up with?"

Same with job base.....if you can't shoot it check for photographers in a nearby area who might be able to.

Through acouple of professional associations I belong too ASMP, Editorial Shooters or Sports Shooter, a client can go into a data base to find a photographer in an area to work. That would be nice

Both, a by location "database" per se. Publicly searchable.

It could just be a simple list, I.E. if I were the first person to sign up for North Carolina it might look something along the lines of this:

North Carolina:
Xposure Real Estate Photography -- City: Asheville *--space--* Website: www.PropertyXposure.com

Washington:
Jim Bryant -- City: Port Orchard *--space--* Website: www.JimBryantPhotography.com

That's just an example. Jim, I promoting you, hope you don't mind!

Not a problem.............thanks. See how easy it would be Ha, I'm not the one who's gonna have to do all this, work, but something along that would be helpful. Also it would make it easier for people to plan walkabouts and meetups.
