Ya i know there are tons of things to shoot...unfortanatly where i live in the city there is nothin intersting around my house. I have tried getting my license 2 times this year to then be able to drive places and get nice shots but i havent gotten to take my drivers test yet. And i have also just walked around the block trying to look for something but havent found anything that stuck out to me. Thanks for the tip tho...i'll probably try looking for a 365 site.

Do you have any action figures? Office supplies? That's the kind of stuff I'd shoot when stuck at work or home only I'd try to play with concepts learned here on the forums like depth of field. For example:

If you are on the second week and already out of ideas.... Isn't that a bad sign?

lol

My friend is on a 52, and he plans weeks in advance for some of his shoots. For instance, this week he's shooting a macro. Next week, a wedding. He's already planned a model shoot in Feb.

The Weekly Assignments are good for inspiration. Try to do something original. Next weeks assignment is "Streets". Think of what everyone else is going to do (like long exposures of cars driving and homeless people) and try and do something original.

I hate to say it, but perhaps part of the problem is the need to change your view and consider how you can make the mundane and boring things around you interesting. I don't have a car. It's been raining for 3 days straight so I'm not about to haul the camera out in the rain. And I'm doing a 365. So what are my options? Find stuff in the house that may be boring and totally ordinary and try to find something interesting to do with it. Not to mention that just because you find it ordinary doesn't mean that everyone else will. So what are some of the mundane things I've photographed?
  • My parents cat
  • Perfume bottles
  • An external hard drive
  • The view out my window
  • My suitcases
  • Paper stars on my mirror
  • A flower
All of those things are pretty mundane, but I'm also pretty pleased with the shots I've got of them. Don't fall into the trap that you have to go places to get good / interesting shots. You'll wind up overlooking the interesting things that are right in front of you.

Thanks for saying it. I know this is harsh but if someone can't come up with something to take one shot of in an entire week, it's not the project, or the city, or any other kind of situation... come on now.

The idea behind 365 or 52 projects is to just get you out and shooting, it doesn't really matter what. So just shoot something.

As said before, shoot the mundane! Try to make it look interesting.
Example:
Yesterday I was drinking some soda and thinking about what to do for that days shot (I'm doing a 365).
So when I finished and was about to go put the glass away, I decided I'd take a shot of the glass.
Day 11/365...
It's not a great shot, but I tried.

Food
Clothing
furniture
body parts (most)
utensils
pets
view from a window
something from under the fridge
light/shadows
and try to walk more than a block. You'll be surprised at what you find if you go out thinking, "I need to find something I can MAKE interesting".
