Default Compensated In Wine

So just this past December, I had some good friends ask me if I could take some pictures of them and their dog for their Christmas cards. They offered to pay me cash, but I told them no as I didn't feel right in charging friends and I'm still in the intermediate stages of photography and learning my D90. So it turned out well and they were happy and they ended up giving me a bottle of red wine and a box of dark chocolates.

So I was wondering if anyone has any good stories of anything they have recieved for taking photos besides money.

I took all the profile pictures for my sister in her adoption application. My reward is a new Nephew. Don't see how I could get anything better than that !

That hasn't happened to me. I would say you got paid well.

I did have some executive for Heaven Hill Distilliries give me a case of some really good bourbon as a tip a few years ago. But that wasn't for photography it was for my daily job.

Being new to photography, I've not been paid this way...but I usually get a case of good beer or bottle of liquor for doing pc work for friends.

Brian, that is awesome!! Congrats to your sister. I'm sure the little guy will soon be filling your frame.

my friends (resturaunt owners) took my wife and I on a "as much of whatever you want" meal to their resturaunt.

when their first baby was born i returned the kindless wit ha shoot for the little one.

they gave me a bottle of very nice sparkling wine.
i have a new favourite wine now...

OH... and this was the only occasion, ever, where i havnt felt like i needed to take a shower after the dealings with them. every single other "friend" had ended up taking advantage and screwing it for all they could.
ya' know who your friends are.

Good question! Makes me feel less "underpaid". I have also received bottles of wine. Dinner seems to be another popular one - especially when I end up taking pictures in the afternoon. Wouldn't be a first if an afternoon shoot is followed by a dinner invite.
Last spring I received a couple of trays with new plants for my garden (not sure if that perhaps was some sort of hint...). And I have traded a few pictures for a beanbag. It isn't an official photography beanbag, rather one you use for babies to warm them up. The shop I helped out had these in stock, hence the trade. A nice extra of this particular beanbag is that it smells a bit of lavender. It doubles as an air freshener in my camera bag

#7 Cas Galjaardt 1983 Elwyn 004 Formula Ford

The driver of car #7 and his wife gave me a gift bag from a bottle shop with a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine for Christmas.

1949 MG TC (2)

After seeing some pics of this car (#29) taken from the spectator side of the fence I was asked if I wanted a media pass for all historic racing events in the state. I said yes.
