Default How often do you?

How often do you comment on a post wen you don't know the author?
I put a pic up in sys with 2 replies which was nice but then decided to put it up for critic so I could learn some more and 24 ppl have viewed it but not one comment

I don't really know anybody on the site because I'm so new, but I'll post when I have something to say. Give it time. It seems there's a lot of traffic on this site and it seems likely that some posts will be overlooked as they get pushed down further on the boards.

People can be touchy and easily get all hurt over small stuff. I find it's not worth my effort anymore if the critique/comment isn't going to be received.

I try to look and if it warrants a comment I'll say something. But most photos that are posted here in the SYS is that you as a photographer are just sharing a shot to view. Now if you really want a true meaningful feedback comment, besides "great photo", then post it in the critique section.

I found when I started in October, it was hard to get anyone to comment on my posts. Then I started commenting on other people's posts, and I started following a few people who commented on my posts, and ended up with a bit of a following - both directions - people who's work I liked and seemed similar to me.

It is hard to start. Commenting takes up a lot of time.....but it seems to me to be the only way if you want others to comment on yours. To start off try posting your very best pics to get attention. I guess you have to decide how much time you want to put into it - and how many comments you expect. We are all alike, we all like comments, so to get comments you must comment too!

ps - welcome to DPS - it is great to see another fellow West Australian on DPS. Have fun!

I comment on posts if it's a question I know the answer to or if the topic is interesting. I rarely look at who the poster is.

A lot of people will not post sometimes because they do not know the answer, feel unable to answer due to inexperience, simply don't have time/just browsing, etc. It does not necessarily mean that your photos are bad.

The poster rarely makes a difference for most people, I really don't care. Although, well known ones will get some attention.
