Hi Sandra,

as it happens one of the DPS members just posted a photo for the Weekly Assignment "Streets" (4th image down on page 25) showing the main entrance to Flinders Street Station (intersection of Flinders Street and Swanston Street) that shows the 9 clock faces above the entrance steps. These are the famous "clocks" when we say "Let's meet under the clocks at Flinders Street". This is the image on Flickr:

Street Assig. on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

If 6-7 people hover under the clocks on the top step they would nearly block off half the entry. We can't be missed. To help you, I will stand under the Broadmeadows clock.

Boy, are you going to learn a bit about Melbourne in a short time.

I think everyone wants to have a photo walk but just cant find time to do it. Well I dont know about others but I was like that for sure. So at the start of 2010, I thought to myself that I will have atleast one photowalk with DPS members this year and rather than postponing it till mid or end of this year, I thought of asking fellow DPSites if they are interested at the start of the year itself and I was lucky to find friends here who are interested.

I am really glad to see that there are 6 in the group as I would have been happy with only a couple of us. I think in this case, size of the group does not matter, its the people who come with different skills (amature to pro) and different background (I am an engineer so every-time I see a bridge, I think of steel, nuts, bolts, construction time it would have taken, safety measures etc and that actually happened to me when we visited Sydney Harbor Bridge).

Good luck with your effort for a photo walk for DPSites in your locale.

Thanks for directions (I am not that new to Melbourne , I mean, I know where Flinders station is, I just didn't know where exactly those clocks are ); honestly I haven't really noticed them before.
See you all on Sunday.

Default Great Day

Hi Everyone,

Just letting you know I had a great morning with my fellow DPS on our Melbourne Walk. Five 5 in total including my wife. We met under the Flinders St Clocks, headed down to South Bank, checked out the Sunday Market, the Concert Hall and the Art Centre. We also headed over to the Kings Domain Gardens. It was a hot day but there was plenty to see and we all got some wonderful images of iconic Melbourne.

I hope that we can do something else in the near future. I look forward to catching up again.

Cheers
David

Default Photo Walk 31st Jan

Hi David,

yes it was hot, but the company was pleasant and I think we all got some good shots. Dharmit has suggested we select 10 of the best images of the day each and splice them into a quick tour/record of the day. He is going to circulate email addresses so we can easily communicate. We ran out of puff and time after lunch, so didn't get much further.

I would like to think that we could do it again (seems it could be with more people as well), I think we learnt from each other and having photography as a common interest it means we can wander off in parallel play and then merge again to discuss and compare shots and techniques. I have one shot exactly the same as yours of Princess Bridge. The only one I have mounted so far (inside the State Theatre) is on my Flickr page (see below).

Talk soon, look forward to viewing your shots.

Cheers, Rhoufi
