Default Please don't stop the music...

As corny as the title may be, I actually wanted to know how many photographers go out shooting (not with a client of course) with their ipod/mp3 player playing in their ears?

I find that I actually shoot a lot better when I'm listening to something distinct, and the music itself really effects what I'm capturing.

I know of painters who put on jazz to paint a masterpiece, I wanted to know if you do the same.

Let me know!

I really never leave the house without music playing, so I almost always shoot with something playing (unless I'm just taking a few shots that I set up in the house). I don't really set the music to anything other than my mood of the day, so I'm not sure that it really has an effect on what I shoot, but I'm definitely addicted to having music on any time I'm working.

Nope, never.

I wonder if, because the music affects your "style/subject" for the day, you don't miss some shots that would otherwise be attractive to you?

I'm old school. I want music my whole body can feel. Like 200 watts per channel RMS.

For those of us who are driven to and by music, I would say the exact opposite would apply.

Nope, I never have. But I do owe that to not owning an ipod, or mp3 player. Heck, I don't even have portable CD player. LOL!

But I'll pretend...

If I did own one, I still wouldn't. But only because I always have my 3 year old daughter with me when I go out shooting for fun. So I have to stay focused on her.

And before you ask..... if I could be child free for a photo walk....then I would have to say I would still not do the music. Only because I would have to savor the peace and quiet (since I have no idea what that is anymore....LOL).

I would guess that since music can significantly affect your mood, that both are true. You see and react to some things you otherwise might not, and you don't react to/see some things you might otherwise wuold.

FWIW, I am also a music lover, but that's a different "lane" in my life...

I'll have my iPod on until i step off the bus. Then it's all ambient. I get a better feel that way and can keep my head about me
