Default Flash or no flash?

I'm going to Sri Lanka this week, can't decide whether to take my external flash with my 5D MkII, backpacking so considering extra weight, space, batteries, etc. Just taking general shots of everything, mindful of strong shadows, dark interiors.

You'll regret it if you don't take a flash along, it's not like you have a pop-up as a flash of (very) last resort.

I can't help but think about all the temple interiors that would benefit from a helping hand from a flash to help balance the highlights and shadows.

Are you packing a tripod and release too? some great landscapes to go at

Have a great trip - don't forget to take us with you via some posts
