Default Can we change ISO setting in post editing?

Hi,

I have recently Joined this school and I need help.
I did some night photography with 1800 ISO speed and I forgot to change it back the next day and I clicked lots of snaps next morning but since they were all at high ISO I see pixels and the pictures does not look good even focus and everything else is perfect.

Do we have any tools where I can change the ISO setting in post editing? I do have RAW files as well.

Thanks,
Ameya

The ISO setting tells the camera how to set the sensor. A high ISO setting amplifies the amount of light received, which creates "noise" as a side effect. Therefore, you can't undo that setting even with a RAW file. The RAW file shows what the sensor received after the effect of the ISO setting.

In future, it might be a good idea to always dial your camera back down to the lowest ISO setting after a session. A RAW file will be a bit more useful in recovering an underexposed image. More importantly, check the results while you are shooting. The histogram view is particularly useful for this and gives you an opportunity to assess the exposure even if you can't make out the fine details on the LCD screen.

@ameyask

Not really however you may be able to reduce the noise, if that is the main problem, in PPing.

Thanks all so it seems I have now learnt a good lesson. YEs and definitely will make sure henceforth that after a photoshoot, I will change my ISO settings to the lowest one.

Regards,
Ameya

When I'm done shooting for the day, before I put my camera in my bag, I reset it. Not sure what type of camera you have, but most Nikons have 2 green dots next to buttons. Press both buttons and reset is done.
I, too, had learned the hard way.

I would find this extraordinarily tedious as many of my day-to-day settings are not the factory defaults.

Most of what I shoot are inside sports, so after downloading my cards and reformatting them, I change back my ISO setting to 400. It just takes a force of habit, until it becomes second nature.
