Hi all,
My day 4 365 image 365.4 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! was used on a blog http://is.gd/5RviG. The blog linked to my flickr page. I don't much mind. I've had people use my images before, but have always been asked (and have had to turn down a couple). Even though I'm in IT, I don't deal with licensing and really don't understand it all. What are my flickr images considered, and can anyone recommend settings I should consider? When people ask for images, I usually just ask for acknowledgment. Many thanks!

I agree with max bill em. That's not a blog really it's a sell-through site. He uses interesting articles to get people in and they click-through the advertising which makes him money. I hate when people do stuff like this but a bill and moving your photo is about your only choice. You could put a watermark on your photo's but that's a whole other can of worms.

Happens to me all the time. My speed photography shots are plastered all over the place...blogs, forums, e-mails...
If you send them a bill, they'll ignore you. Ask them to remove it, and maybe they will, maybe they won't...then you have a fight on your hands. Best thing is to just let it go and be happy that they actually linked to you Flickr site. It'll increase your exposure, increasing the chances that someone will find your photo on a google search, and possibly buy it (happened to me). Now, if they published your work in a well-known magazine without your permission, that's a whole different story. Or if a big company is using your image for marketting. But random blogs...who cares? |

Thanks all! My question was more for curiosity sake - I'm not worried about getting paid for this

I'm curious how you learned that your photo had been used on that blog? Did you run across it by accident?

that's why I normally don't post anything on flickr. Folks can steal your work too easy.
