I have one. The shutter is super quiet. The batteries are no longer available (mercury) and you have to meter from another camera. They are discussed in a whole page devoted to it here:
CameraQuest Home Page
Cheers!

Thanks for the insight!

This one doesn't take batteries, just film.
And it's actually not an SLR (one, attached lens).

Yes, it is a leaf shutter, like the old Leicas. The shutter is in the lens itself, within the lens barrel. It is not a curtain shutter like SLR's but a 5 leaf iris shutter, like the aperture! I have (or did have?) 2 like these, one is Lynx and the other is Electro. The Electro has batteries somewhat like the CR123 sort.
Here are some links:

Very interesting.
But mine is the Lynx-14E not the 14.

No Leica ever had a leaf shutter-always a focal plane shutter right from 1913. The lynx is a beautiful camera-I used a pair of them in the late '60's for wedding photography-the best info is from Yashica Electro 35 & Rangefinder camera user Homepage

As for batteries you can use lr44/A76 batteries-available at most supermarkets-what you need to do is to make a circle out of normal mains wiring (covered) for the smaller battery to sit in. Ken

Yes, that's right! The leaf shutter on the lens is like that on the lenses of a Bronica ETRS or similar, not Leica. Thanks ken!

Default Hey.

This camera looks familiar. I checked out your blog, and i noticed where you were from. This camera by chance wasn't bought in Asheboro was it? I think I saw this very camera a while back at the antique mall there.

If Pam is any of your family, I went to school with her.
BTW, you have some very nice images on your blog! Congrats on the awards, and welcome to DPS! It's a great place to learn!
Happy shooting!
