Question "Don’t leave your camera"

Hi,

reading the "30 Photographic Goals for 2010" I wondered again: Since I have my D90, I try to carry it everywhere with me (not that it makes me take lots of great pictures... :-/). I got a compact bag for my cam (my nifty-fifty fits luckily into one of the sidebags) so I can put it also in my backpack.

However it's still waaay too clunky. So I'd like to ask: Do you carry your DSLRs with you or just some GF1 or even a point'n'shoot/phonecam? I don't have that much time for going on several photowalks a week, so if I want to capture something interesting, I have to take it with me...

So does it make me a crazy exotic to commute wih a camera bag?

I have a D60, a Kodak point and shoot (can't remember the model number but it is on the bigger side for a point and shoot). If I'm going somewhere that I know will have good potential for some cool shots, I take the D60 (and sometimes the Kodak). But at this point I don't have a camera I just carry all the time. I think I'm going to get one of those really slim and small point and shoots just to keep in my purse so I always have a camera of some kind. I have a camera on my phone but it's pretty much worthless.

I only carry my camera to work, and use it for work. when I am out and about with the family, unless we are doing something I want pictures of, I leave the camera at home. Its just to much junk to carry around for "in case something pops up"

I have my DSLR with me a lot however I also have a Canon G11 P&S for those times when it is inappropriate to carry a DSLR.

I've been taking my 40d with a 35mm lens attached with me pretty much wherever I go since I've been on vacation (we'll see if this continues once I have to start going to class again). I've heard of lots of people that take a DSLR with them everywhere, so no, it doesn't make you crazy. We're photographers, remember? If that's crazy for you, you've got a lot to learn :P

"The best camera is the one that's with you."

I'll bring my dslr with me most days and leave it in my locker during classes. If not I have my LG Dare phone with 3.2 megapixels. Even though it's a crap camera it's better than no camera and I've gotten some pretty cool shots SOOC.

Heh, okay feeling better now. I have a crapcam in my HTC Hero too, but I want to keep my project365 pics from my D90 if possible. But there are really occasions where a dSLR is not apropriate so I'll get a p&s on the long run I guess.

P.S. I've been able to take this pic (mid in the city!) due to my "crazyness":

Not art, but cuuute.

I don't have a DSLR, although I have a big point and shoot (Sony F828) but my little Samsung comes with me EVERYWHERE. I have a 2.5 year old so you never know when those awesome little moments are going to pop up?
