OT question about a lens

I am new to the whole DSLR world. I have a few 50mm lenses and such from a film camera. They are canon lenses, between 4-10 yrs. old. Can they go onto my Canon Xsi dslr??? I know, you all are laughing at me, go ahead.... I know it's a dumb question, but had to ask

If the Canon lens names start with "EF", you're good to go with a digital SLR. If they start with "FD" or "FL", then, no, you can't use them on a Canon dSLR without an adapter, and it's probably not worth it to find one.

Between 4-10 years sound good enough for them to be an EF. Like inkista said, those'll work just fine with your XSi. If they're FD, I'd—well, I think we all would, except for macro shooters—recommend against it.

I like that, in fact I like it so much I'm going to start a movement to have DPS Forums shut down.

I mean, why do we need a forum full of photographers that we can ask advice or opinions of when we have Google? I think the purpose of this forum has been defeated, as maxharvard has so elequently pointed out to us.

Close the forum, it's no longer required.

Look for a "Close the DPS Forums" petition coming to your area soon. Be sure to sign it and get your friends to sign it too. Many voices will be heard.
