Default Filters: Keywords V's Labels

Just spent the last day organising and applying filters to all my photos in Lightroom.

I just realised that you can add labels in the images metadata.
What are the pros/cons of doing this over the keyword feature?
I noticed I can actually search using these labels aswell as keywords.

What do you use?

Cheers all.

I use keywords. I think "filters" are more for "personal use". Keywords are a recognized form of metada and will be used by web crawlers/search engines etc.

There is not much of a difference between keywords and labels, except you can add more then one keyword to an image. I use keywords on all my images. It really saves a lot of time when trying to find that flower, or tree image out of thousands of images.

Ah, thanks guys. That makes sense.

Are there any tips or tricks when it comes to keywording?

I've spent the better part of a day keywording all my photos. Luckily I only have about 6,000 images, but it's still tedious.
I've just gone with basic categories at the moment: People, landscape, cityscape, wildlife, beach, building, architecture, flowers and plants, food and drink.

Next step is adding sub categories.
People: Friends, Family, Randoms
Wildlife: Insects, Birds

You get the idea. Does this seem like a smart approach?
I figure this is the hard part. As long as I take the time to upload new images carefully and keyword as I do, then it should be easy to maintain.

Cheers for the help guys

Thats how I do it. I start general Nature, Portraits, Landscapes...then narrow down from there. Another nice feature of Lightroom is making Smart Collections. Once you have all your photos keyworded you can group them using Smart Collections by keyword. So if you are constantly searching for one keyword you can just make it a smart collection. Then whenever you add that keyword to another photo it will automatically add that photo to the collection. Really a time saver!
