Default The 100,000 Shutter Life Guarantee

The brand new camera last Christmas guarantees 100,000 shutter actuations. Hmmm....
If it were to be replaced for a new model by me in 5 years time, that would make about 20,000 shots in one year. About 1,667 shots in one month, or about 385 shots per week, or about 55 shots per day, everyday! I better get going then....

My 18 month old 40D has about 25,000 shots on it.....my week an a bit old 7D has 539 shots on it so far.

Some nights I can fire of 1000s of shots without much trouble if I'm messing about with macro focus stacks....sometimes you need 100s of exposures just to create 1 shot. For example, one shot took 244 exposures like this:
1-of-the-244

to create one focus stacked image like this:
244-shot-stack

...I was just trying to see how many shots I could stack there as usually it's spiders I practice at home on...

A focus stack or two a week should help keep the shot count on target
