Default Setting up a Photo website/blog
I currently have a blogger photo blog setup which I have made some great use of, but I want to change the domain name to something that is my own. I already purchased the domain name but am not fully sure what I want to do with it.

I'm thinking of setting up a website with some static pages that I can use to display my gallery of pictures and an about me page, and then have a link to my blogger blog (or embed it) which will be blog.mysite.com.

But then I started thinking of other things I could do, like install wordpress (or movable type or some other blog software) on my web host so I can just have everything in one convenient place and all in my control. But I having the ability to send an email to blogger and having it published as a blog, and I would lose that if I went with wordpress on my own host.

I've been thinking and looking through other's photo websites for over a week now and I just can't find a solution that I'm 100% happy with, does anybody have any other ideas which might help that I have overlooked?

P.S. I use feedburner for my feeds so changing from blogger to wordpress shouldn't make me lose those who subscribed.

Okay, after several more hours of research I think I'm going to switch to a word press blog. I like having the entire blog hosted on my own site. Now I just need to find a nice photo blog template.

yeah Wordpress is the way to go!

Check out Woo for some great premium themes, yes you'll need to pay a little bit, but the features that come with woo themes are worth every penny!

If cost is an issue, go to smashing magazine and search for free "wordpress themes" and there's some lists with free gallery templates.

I got my site up: Jonathan Zenor Photography

So far I like it a lot. There is still a little bit of tweaking with the wordpress theme but other than that I'm satisfied with everything.

I just started a word press site a few days ago. Im still learning about themes and plugins but so far Im really impressed with the ease of everything. Your site looks great!

I added a photo gallery to my site using SlideShow Pro. Pretty awesome software! I hope to make some improvements to it soon.
