Default I'm I there

That is the question I ask myself. Just when I think I'm getting close the darn sign gets moved two miles down the road. So I have gone back to the basics. Years ago I had a friend was a pro photographer, One thing he would do is ask me to look at a lighting situation and ask me at a shutter speed of 125 what is the f stop. Took a while but I got pretty good at it. But this was many years ago and I'm rusty.
But till then I keep learning and someday maybe I will get there.

I like your original title. It made it seem like your post would be something about post modern existentialism.

Default Shooting modes.

Once I was feeling and getting burnt out, so I put away all my Canon F-1N's with motors and used my four old manual F-1 camera film bodies each one with a different lens, 24mm, 85mm, 135mm and 300mm....no motor drives. This helped and really made me work a situation. Now in this digital age unless I'm covering either a fast changing news or sporting events I take my MK II's off high speed shooting mode and use single shot only. This makes you take the time to work an assignment creativity.

For the past while I have my camera set on manual, trying to read the shot. One shot at a time. My hope is when or if I shoot more weddings this summer I will be able to react faster to any the situation and get the shot.

Should work for you as it makes you take the time to see images develop instead of relying on the camera to think for you
