Default Focusing the viewfinder

I think my viewfinder is out of focus. When I manually focus the camera everything looks sharp in the viewfinder (at least to the best of my ability to see it in that little screen) but the images are not sharp at all.

Is my viewfinder out of focus or is it just because it is so small that it is hard to tell?

Have you used the dioptre adjustment to make sure the viewfinder is sharp for your eyesight?

When manually focussing do you get any of the focus points to light up?

Can you post an example of a "not sharp" image along with Exif Info?
(the problem may not be due to a focus issue)

You can check this and have heard it mentioned before, you have to take off your lens and look through the viewfinder at the focus dot. There is a small dial ner the viewfinder that focus's it and by turning this until the focus dot is sharp you should get the right focus for the view finder.

Here's the quick'n' easy way:

Setting focus points in viewfinder

Detach lens, (so you are adjusting focus on focus point, not image)
- adjust dioptre (next to viewfinder) so focus points are sharply in focus. (easier against a white, or light background)
Re-attach lens.

Regards, Ken

Its funny, I bought a camera a few weeks ago and when I was testing it out I thought something was major league wrong with it. When I pressed the shutter button halfway the lens would move but what I saw through the viewfinder was way out of focus. I took a picture and sure enough it was sharp on the screen. Only after a couple of tries did I think to change the diopter focus. That solved the problem.
