I really am looking for a one company solution. Get the domain name and web hosting while only paying and dealing with one company.

At the same time, yes with Internet being global, it does not matter where physically the machines are located. However my point was I do not want to be dealing with support agents from another country if I can help it. The timezones being what they are.

I think Hostgator.com's web hosting plans looked good however they do not offer domain name registration. Perhaps my goals simply are too lofty!

did you look at the one I posted?
Canada's time zones are the same as the US. And hey--we even speak the same language!

Or the one I posted (hostmonster). Does everything you've asked for so far. Cheap too!

Hostmonster.com requires the 12 months to be paid up front. If I had the funds I would simply do so. Also it's one of those two step sites. Enter a new domain name, or existing domain name and the next page is entering payment information. No no no. I want to see my shopping cart, see what the costs are to make a decision.

As for the Canadian host, I'm still unsure about going that route.

well, you've been given lots of suggestions and have shot them all down, so I guess now you have to figure out what you actually want and whether it's worth paying for.

I know go-daddy has a lot of advertising, but you do not need to use any of it. I am a complete novice when it comes to setting up a website. However, in just three days I was able to buy a domain name set up hosting and use a free word press template to get a beginner site up and running. Im not in any kind of business and I just wanted a site that I can post and talk about my pictures. And my friends and family can go to with out having to sign up for an account. Overall my site is less then $20 a month and it really was simple to get off the ground. The best thing is I used go-daddy for the whole thing and I dont have to worry about one company hosting, or another company selling my domain name. I pay monthly and yes its slightly more expensive then yearly but I can cancel or upgrade at anytime.

There are simply too many little things with each choice and most of them are not what they seem once you actually are a step before paying. Adding to that, I do not want to settle for just any provider.

I guess I question your seriousness as a photographer is you can't invest the $75 it takes upfront for the whole year. And no, it's not a two step site. The first step is simply to assure you are registering a name that's available so that you aren't filling out an entire app just to find out the website name you want is already taken. And yes, you will see a shopping cart type of page listing exactly what you'll be purchasing before you confirm your purchase. Trust me, I've signed up for it myself, I signed up my company that I work for as a regular day job and I've helped other people sign up for it. It's about as easy as it gets.

Sounds like you want to go to a Kia dealership and pay Kia prices but expect a Lexus in return.

Question my seriousness as a photographer simply based on economic conditions, which are completely out of my control? Nobody ever told you to take offence if you suggest something and that suggestion is not blindly followed. I imagine you believe everyone follows your every word.

Word to the wise, what works and feels good to you does not have to work or feel good for someone else. This is how I choose to examine domain name registration and web hosting companies.

And no, vehicle purchases have nothing to do with this. If you're going to critize someone, at least say it with meaning, none of this "I guess" language.
