Default Do You Get Into Other People's Pictures?

This is the other side of mrodgers' thread. Do you purposely put yourself into pictures taken by people you don't know?

With today's digital stuff, I have no problem doing it. If they don't like me in the picture they can erase it and take another one. I'm really only talking about the touristy shots here. Standing in front of a monument, stuff like that. I'm not going to put myself into a picture of something they might not be able to get again.

My favorite time to do it is when they're blocking the walkway at amusement parks. There is no reason to make everyone stop going down the path just so you can have your family on one side standing in front of a giant bush made to look like a tiger with you on the other side of the path. It's amazing how many people I hear complaining about stopping when this happens so they won't mess up the picture, but my brother and I are almost always the only people I see walking between the photographer and the subject.

I also like to be in the background doing something stupid. I doubt that anyone notices while taking the picture, and I haven't had anyone ask me to 'behave' yet.

What the heck? LOL!

Whenever I see someone trying to take a picture of their family/friends, I offer to take the picture so that they can be in the picture as well. Maybe I should ask if I could join them.

I've jumped in a few photos... pulling a face or pretending to be "part of the family"... I have managed a few strange looks... c'est la vie!

I try to stay out of the photo, but my husband tries to get in them.

I always hate it when people don't even look at you when you are trying to take a photo and they walk right through your frame. And no I am not the one who is blocking the path.

I have yet to see anyone making faces or pretending to be part of the family. I would take the picture anyway it would always be a good story to tell later.

And all of you are invited to be in any of my photos, anytime.

So, not only do we need to keep out kids behind locked doors instead of out in public, but if we do go out in public, we can't look at anything or enjoy it because we need to be constantly looking for people taking pictures so we don't infringe on "their rights" or "get in their way" rather than enjoying the place we are at? (better put a disclaimer here that I was joking. My British friends tell me that us Americans don't understand comedy and sarcasm real well....)

Seriously, how funny would it be when Aunt Bert got home and printed her pictures to find some weirdo in the back sticking his tongue out or giving Grandma bunny ears .

The majority probably wouldn't notice because they take photographs with their arms fully extended out looking at the little LCD screen. Tack on top of that, I see way too many people using the digital zoom as well so the quality of the shot goes down from that.

Aside from really not wanting to be in pictures in general, I couldn't imagine walking in front of someone's shot. If I can't walk behind the photographer I'll gladly wait either until they're done or they notice me trying to get by. *shrug*

Personal opinion again (I have a few of those..) If there is an easy way to get around the shot I take it, granted, if someone is taking up a large area and I have to go out of my way to get around them then no, I don't care that much and will walk right through. Similarly, if I'm the one taking a photo in a public area and people are walking I don't expect them to stop for me. I'll just stop for a second until they pass. If I have time to take a photo then I have a few extra seconds to let someone walk by. Also, if someone in the background is doing something amusing, all the better. People see pictures of their family all the time, what about that psycho in the back pretending to make out with the Minney Mouse looking shrubbery because they understand how photographic angles work and how it will look in the photo?

Rodge... may I call you Rodge!.. THAT made me laugh out loud... tea on keyboard loud!... ;-)

It's more "oblivious walkers" that drive me wild... people that have no "footpath etiquette".... i'm told off frequently by M for snarling at an "OW" that wanders out of a shop onto a busy footpath [say, Oxford St] and just stops... but, I see people walk through shots lal the time.. I guess we're just more aware of photographers, being photographers.. right?

I guess I didn't state it clearly.
I don't have a problem with people walking through if they can't get around.
I do have issues with people that step right in front of you when you are just a few feet away from what you are shooting at, so they can jaywalk across the busy street with their kids in tow. I guess if they could not go the five feet to the cross walk how can I expect them to go two feet around me.
For example, at our cities tree lighting ceremony when I am way off to the left, out of everyones way, and some guy comes over with his family and stands right in front of me while I try to take pictures of the tree.
I guess there is no more common courtesy in this world.

Sorry for my ranting. It happens sometimes.
