Nope, i stay out of everyones photos unless its something im doing for myself, but thats different,

I will gladly stand to the side and wait for someone to finish than walk through their shot, its also what i would expect to happen to me, in common courtesy but it just doesn't everyone is busy rushing around nowadays,

Best example of this is the shot i took in Manchester of a building,
DSCF2332
The guy actually decided to argue with me over the fact he was in the shot, although i had been stood there for 5 minutes taking the same shot before he walked past, i seriously thought he was going to hit me, even though i tried to tell him it was a public place and he had no rights to argue with me,

so, to summarize, i would expect people to have courtesy towards me as i would towards them by staying out of the shot,

ike,

If I see the camera in "ready position" (up to the eye, or aiming with the LCD), I'll go around or wait if I can't go behind. When the camera lowers, they either took the picture, are changing the settings, or waiting for something, at which point I'll move. Though they should be aware of their surroundings, and if they are blocking traffic, I do expect them to take no longer than 30 seconds. Otherwise, people should be kind enough to go around if there is room.

Here's one of my favorite travel photos: I wanted this shot of Federation Square from across the street, I had the camera up and ready to snap, when a girl just walks in front. I actually knew she was coming and waited to see if she would just walk in front, which she did. She was standing on the corner, so I panned right and liked the composition (of the image, stop thinking dirty).

In pretty much every case I can imagine, I will not consciously intrude on someone elses picture unless invited. I can wait a moment or find another route round. I certainly appreciate it when others do that for me.

On the flip side of the coin, when I am taking photos I try to be aware of those around me. For example, if I am taking time to compose a picture and my shot cuts across a thoroughfare, I will try to keep an eye out for people walking down and wave them past if I'm not ready to take my shot.

Courtesy all the way...

The shot needs something in the foreground, IMHO, and the girl works well here.

As for myself, I try to be considerate of other people taking shots if I would be placing myself in the mid- to near foreground. If I'd only be in the background then I don't think taking any special care would be warranted (plus I'd have to move a looong way to get out of shot!)

When I'm taking a shot, I'll just wait to take the shot. I've got plenty of time and digital is cheap.

This is the real reason you bring your tripod when shooting(i think you know what i mean)

haha, but seriously ill wait for someone to take their shot as i would expect the same.

I do have issues with people that step right in front of you when you are just a few feet away from what you are shooting at, so they can jaywalk across the busy street with their kids in tow. I guess if they could not go the five feet to the cross walk how can I expect them to go two feet around me.
For example, at our cities tree lighting ceremony when I am way off to the left, out of everyones way, and some guy comes over with his family and stands right in front of me while I try to take pictures of the tree.
I guess there is no more common courtesy in this world.

Sorry for my ranting. It happens sometimes.
I think you hit the nail on the head.
My thoughts exactly.
