Default What do you think of my new (web design) business card design

Hi All,

My turn to ask for a design critique

My current branding is a bit here and there with my card design being a lot different from my website and my focus has changed a fair bit since my original card, so I've finally got of my backside and started designing a new card (website, letterheads etc to follow).

I thought I'd give the whole bokeh effect a whirl and incorporate my interest in photography into my branding, what do you think???

(dark border is to mask the bleed, cards will be colour all the way to edge)
Front

Back

What do you think, does it work? I'm a bit worried people might see it as irrelevant and design for design sake.

Anyway, love to hear you thoughts for or against.

BTW - I'm aware the text is a touch small in some places, I will fix, but don't have the font on the machine I'm on ATM

Cheers
Free

It's good, it's solid and safe... as in, there's barely any confusing as you've added the bar in, etc.

I think it's fine. Changing the colour was a good thing (that is, on the back), even now the blue is somewhat powerful, so...

Only suggestions: your 'signature' thing at the front could be bigger, and make the description bigger as well (graphic designer, etc.)

The next needs to be bigger elsewhere also, but you know that.

Is your name really "free-o-tool"? Ok that's not exactly what it says but that's what comes across to me....and in the U.S. being "a tool" isn't a good thing.

It actually made me laugh, and not in a good way....But that could certainly be a cultural issue, "a fag" here has a completely different context/connotation than it does overseas.

haha - no, it's Free O'Toole. O'Toole as in the traditional Irish surname and Free as in my folks smoked way to much pot in the 60's.

It's a weird name I know, it's also the only reason I trade under my name rather than a business name Not many people forget my name in a hurry!

Thanks ' chicken

Well, there is that! And if you make a good impression and establish a good rapport, then you are probably pretty much "locked in".....But with a name like that you are probably even more "locked in" if you don't.

so saying:
"i'm goin' outside to smoke a fag"
could easily be misunderstood as an intention to kill somebody ?

That's freakin' hilarious!

Anyway...Free...I love the card, I think it looks wonderful! I like the blue on black and the simplicity of the design. Just enough detail and "fun" without going overkill.

I may have to PM you about designing a card for me, LOL!

Or provide some kind of *ahem* release for a member of the homosexual community.
