Default Fog

Has anybody had managed to get good shots in fog, or do they turn out too featureless and grey?

Should probably add this is the second full day Glasgow has been covered in it.

I think you can get some decent shots in the fog.

Here are some foggy shots from the Seattle Arboretum:

A couple of barn shots in the fog:

I know there are much better shots with fog out there than mine but it gives you an idea. Also be careful of moisture on your equipment while shooting in fog.

Cool... the fog here today is much heavier than in your images (I can't even see across the street) but maybe when it thins out a little I'll have something to try out.

Thanks for the reply!

Mega foggy over 'ere too.....hoping it's like that next week as I'm off and hoping to try some pics of it too. A wee bit mist is one thing but have never tried photographs in heavy fog. Not sure how it'll work out but what's it matter so long as it's fun trying

How about this one:

I took it while driving to work one morning. You probably can't find so many good scenes when the fog is so thick, it's better to wait for it to clear up a bit. Interaction of fog and sun rays is often interesting.

Btw, this was shot using Kodak Z650 Zoom P&S, at 190 mm focal lenght (in 35mm format), at 1/400 sec. with no image stabilisation and hand held.

The below shot is a wee bit mist.....

...if it was taken in fog like we've had here you wouldn't be able to see the water behind the reeds never mind the trees of the far bank or the hill in the distance.

For fog shots I was thinking lights receeding into the distance or something.....don't think anything else will show in thick fog unless it's within a few metres of the camera. I might try some low contrast silhouttes too.

I got a shot of this fog this morning. I wanted to play around with the white balance settings and I think it turned out kinda neat.

This was a bit foggy. I guess the thicker it gets, the more you start to look for shapes. It would be pretty tough trying to get details.
