Default Pictures of the Year International gig

Look what I received in an email today This is too good to pass up. The neat part is that I'll be staying in the same hotel as the judges and I'm gonna pester them by showing my portfolio and begging for assignments

Hello, Jim Bryant:

Pictures of the Year International is engaged in a new partnership with Adobe Corporation to provide their Connect Web seminar room with 400 “seats” available to us as a contribution. We will be Webcasting the entire three weeks of judging to a worldwide audience for the 67th annual POYi competition using the Adobe Connect platform.

Because the judging is such an intense experience, we need technical support and the role of a seminar room moderator for our online guests who will be witnessing the judging.

This Webcasting is an important educational outreach effort for POYi. Last year we had 99 “seats” in the virtual “room” and they were full most of the time with people waiting to get in. The moderator’s role is critical to keep incoming guests up-to-date on what is happening and providing background information. With this new expanded partnership with Adobe, POYI needs a real responsible technician and moderator running this thing.

The judging dates are Sunday, Feb. 14 through Friday, March 5. I would like to get you here a few days earlier to set up on Wednesday, Feb. 10. Here is a breakdown of each week:
Week #1 — Sunday, Feb. 14 through Friday, Feb. 19
Saturday— Week 1 judges depart and week 2 judges arrive
Week #2 — Sunday, Feb 21 through Friday, Feb. 26
Saturday — Week 2 judges depart and week 3 judges arrive
Week #3 — Sunday, Feb. 28 through Friday, March 5
Saturday — Week 3 judges depart and contest judging ends

POYi will cover your:

* Air fare round trip (our travel agent will work with you to arrange a convenient flight schedule)
* Lodging (accommodations at the same hotel where the judges are staying)
* Meals
* Incidentals (reimbursed)
* $2600 as technical support and moderator for Adobe Connect

Nice, tell the judges not to pick so much B&W. CPOY this year was ridiculous ... chipmunk photographer of the year.

Congrats! That sounds like a really great opportunity. Do you think you'll post a 'debriefing' for us when you get back? It would be cool to hear about how it all goes.

Hell....I could do a weekly posting or maybe a daily one. Or even put a link to the POYi site.
