Default I'm running away this weekend.....

and attending a wedding photography workshop where we will learn the following:

Aims

Provide a short intruductory to marketing for success, getting bookings and developing a viable business strategy for wedding photography.

Look at peception vision. Seeing the picture using perspective, viewpoint, lines, colour, shape and form.

Show how lighting works on the day and demonstrate the pitfalls and problems encountered and show how to overcome them.

Teach control of lighting, including subtractive and additive techniques, using light modifiers as well as the use of flash and fill lighting.

Show how to deal with poor and articifical lighting on the day.

Contuct a shoot with a bride/groom showing some set poses for the day.

This is a 2 day course about 1 1/2 to 2 hours drive from where I live so I have now booked into a bed and breakfast overnight partly because I can't be bothered to drive there and back and there and back and also to give me some well deserved ME TIME!!

Oh, enjoy. I took one this summer - model shoots, beach shoots, etc. was a blast.

It was absolutely brilliant!! I am so inspired! Terry Hewlett is definately my style and someone to aspire to. Instead of being put off by the whole wedding business this past course has given me even more determination, passion, drive and enthusiasm.

We were using remote triggers using Elinchrom equipment. Of course if you're using pro equipment your going to get pro results right?

The results were awesome. I've taken some great shots. Unfortunately I cannot publish them on the net as I didn't pay the model release for reasons that I'm concerned that if I put them on my web page and a client phones and wants me to recreate the shot I'd become unstuck as I don't have the state of the art lights, stands and brolly etc (yet lol).

However the model was beautiful, big blue eyes, long blond hair, flawless complextion and size 6 figure! Sorry no pic for you guys!

The man running the course said I am doing the right thing by doing what I am doing although I was a little embarrassed about my modest Canon 40d compared to his super duper canon mk II but he did say that its right to spend more money on glass than a camera. He let me have a go on his camera and its surprisingly heavy what with the 70-200 lens attached. He did say that I would probably struggle holding that all day.

Well, now I just want a California Sunbounce (made in Germany lol!) and some Elinchrom lights.

Terry Hewlet the lecturer runs other courses through out the year and I am definately going to attend some more of his workshops in due course.

Great!. Nothing like motivation and encouragement....and it's nice to know how easy it can be to get great pictures if you have the right equipment and know how to use it (and that "you can do it").
