Default 18 Women ... and me.

I posted this on another forum just recently, and I thought I'd share this with my friends on DPS ... Just totally frustrated ...

I work in an office with 18 women... We have a small unit of 5 people - we get daily work every morning.. sometimes more than we can handle in a day, and sometimes much less where we're done in an hour or two. The unit has to maintain our staff level for those times we have a lot of work..

Today is one of those days that I'll be done at about 10:00.. I can normally find stuff to do - researching problems, doing some peer reviews, etc.. My 'boss' just came in and said that we dont' have too much to do today, so when we're done, we need to take some 8x10 paper and fold it up and make ......... paper snowflakes........ for us to hang on our celing.

I've suffered thru this for over 25 years, and it gets worse daily. I could retire today if it wasnt' for the ungodly cost of health insurance... so, being 63, I have 2 more years to go until I can retire/Medicare. With my age, and large retirement package, and lack of job opportunities in our area, I've painted my self in quite the corner.... Will have to stick this one out for a while... and-somehow - keep from going totally insane.

Today is one more day towards that goal ....... In the meantime.. I think I'll make a 'blue' snowflake... in the shape of a turd..

Keep on trudging along, you're almost there.

Out of curiousity, what happens if you don't make snowflakes? Do you get axed?

I so know how you feel when everyday is torture going to a job you hate.

I remember quitting one job and starting a new one and on my first day there I walked into the office where I would be working and thought "Oh God, what have I done". I was working with a bunch of 50 - 60 year old fuddy duddy old fogies! I so did not fit in! Where as my previous job was with 20 somethings telling each other dirty jokes (when we should have been working lol) I remember thinking "just stick it out for a year then get preggers and leave!".

Thats what I did and haven't looked back.

Hang in there! Not much longer to go

ps I've had so many shitty jobs in the past. I once accidentally put someones's customer ref number as "f off". Hmmmm I think my subconsciece mind was telling me something lol! Needless to say my services were no longer required :

There are days on my job when I'd rather be making paper snowflakes.

Dont' be too sure of that ...... I'm scheduled to bring in Cookies for Thursday... and I
get to help 'decorate' for Fridays party ......

Think I'll hang my turd snowflake as part of the decorations....

Now ....... I'm gonna really piss everyone off ........ I work for a Government Agency ! They pay me a lot of money to make snowflakes... (NOT turning this into a political thread, please..) - Just an observation that if this was a private industry, they'd find something "Useful" for us to do with any downtime...

Aaarrggg....
