Default Bride and Groom smearing cream

Why do bride's and grooms smear wedding cake cream over each other? What nationality does that? Is it American? I normally see this on You've Been Framed and it always baffles me what the significance of this is. Can someone explain?

Totally random post I know but I am intrigued.

It's a US thing. I have no idea why. Generally, there's much threats involved before hand not to do this from each party, then they both do it. The original tradition is to feed each other to symbolize sharing house and home. Then, someone thought it was funny to be a jerk...

I've seen it done in Canada, but not very often.

Yup it's a thing here in the US. I think, like Mr Guy said, they were supposed to be feeding each other the cake to symbolize sharing the house/home, but then somebody thought it a funny and "cute"(as some would say) thing to do.
Dunno though, could be wrong. But I do see it at almost every wedding I go to..

People do it even here, just a little bit. I have no idea why though. Maybe it started somehow from that tradition of feeding each other..

Have seen this taken to extremes on America's Funniest Home Videos. The Mrs and I didn't see the point in participating in this ourselves though.

I think it replaces abstinence until the wedding night. You see, we do have virtues. ; )
