Default WOO-HOO New lens!!!!

Just got home, glanced out on the front porch and lo and behold, a nice little box awaiting me. My new Sigma 10-20mm!!!! It is just crazy cool. I can not wait to get outside in the daylight with it. Now if Santa's brown truck would just get here with the rest of my V4's, my holiday season will be complete.

HAving just got my mitts on a wide angle (though an old manual w adapter, not a fancy nice Sigma 10-20!) I can say you are gonna have some fun! Just be aware you can get insanely close to the subject - reckon you will constantly over estimate it and have to move alot to start!

look forward to seeing shots!

I've been eyeing that lens for some time. I was going to buy it after Christmas (wanted to buy it last month, but the wife said "You just got a new lens!" referring to my new Sigma 70-200mm f2.8), but I happened across the Tamron 11-18mm on Craigslist for $120. The Tamron is a nice lens, but I'm still considering selling it to buy the superior Sigma 10-20. Ideally, I'd like to get the f2.8 Tokina, but that's $700

Btw, shooting that wide is awesome. I got a couple good hockey (behind the goalie) and hunting shots with it recently. It's fun to use occasionally during a wedding too, during the ceremony and during the dance. It's a lot of fun. Congrats!

My 10-22mm is essentially glued onto my camera body.
The barrel distortion can be pretty bad, but it's manageable.

I am super jealous. I have been looking at that lens for a while now. I looked at the local store the day after Thanksgiving thinking I would have bought it if it were on sale (who am I kidding? I would have bought it if had a markup. I have a serious impulse buying problem.) The store was out of the lens on that day while Canon and Tamron lenses were still on the shelf. I took that as a good sign.

I am sure I will buy it soon enough but I still would like to have it now. I need to get some practice in with it before a honeymoon trip to Hawaii in June.

Nice - I got to play with one for 3 weeks - I'm not a big wideangle user but I have to say it was a pretty solid experience - a very nice lens. I prefer faster glass though.

I LOVE that lens - its soooo fun to play with. Congrats. The only thing I found was that the thing closest to the camera seemed bigger than normal. So, a nose would look pretty big, or if someone poses with their hands infront of them. But if you look at alot of the cds (usually males) a lot of them are shot with wide angle lenses.

Cannot wait to see what you come up with!

I'm all kinds of stoked up. And I just happen to be off for two whole days this weekend. I plan on getting out in the morning and taking a little drive to find something to shoot. WWHHEEEE!!!
