Hi, I recently purchased a Canon Rebel SX and I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can about using it.

I'm sure I will have lots of questions, all tips, hints and suggestions are welcome.

Don't forget to look at the tutorials- some of them are very food. "How I took it" is also a source of inspiration.

Your best friend is the user manual.

Set yourself some exercises.

How do I change the Shutter Speed.
How do I change the ISO.
Whats white balance.
Do I use multi point focusing

The list goes on. When you can do all the things in your user manual without thinking or looking, then you have mastered your camera. You may not be able to take a decent photo but you'll know what to do to get one.

And as a bonus, you'll understand some of the jargon and issues raised here. But above all, If you dont know the answer ask here and I'm sure you will be given teh right one.

Happy photography.

Cheers,

John W

Welcome, and congrats on the new purchase. You'll like that camera. Definitely read through the manual and learn the camera so that you can operate it efficiently.

The other thing that I would recommend is to read Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. That easy to follow book did more to get me jump started than any other that I read. I was shooting in manual mode in no time.

Most of all, have fun.
