Isn't there a way to put images in on a website or something where you can't save the picture? I know I've seen professional sites have this feature. No right clicking and 'save picture as', etc.
I'd actually prefer this method if someone could shed some light on how to do it. |

Mind you, no method is totally effective, but Flickr doesn't offer the right click "protection" as is being discussed here. What they do offer is the ability to change who can download your photos. It's in your account settings under Privacy (Who can download my photos). You can set it to a several different things depending how you want it. But what this does is remove the "All Sizes" button and puts a spaceball.gif image over your photo so that right clicking will bring cause that to be saved instead of the photo. Again, this may discourage people, but like everything else, it's not a 100% safeguard.

If somebody can see your picture on their computer it isn't safe from "borrowing". The HTML code of the page will give clues as to where to download it, a copy will be stored in the computers "browser cache" and there is always the screenshot technique.
One thing you can do, even though it doesn't directly protect your pictures, is to respect other people's copyright and encourage others to do the same. Promote respect and little bit of it might come back your way. Wulf |

I use flickr, 99.9% of my pictures are All Rights Reserved... thing is I upload to max 800px width so if someone wants to do something with it, meh... not too concerned, maybe I'd reconsider if I ever considered some level of professional-ist type status but at the present that's not a concern.

I currently don't watermark my photos, but I may (or may not) in the future. Others have asked if they can use my photos, and I have given my permission. I haven't seen any of my photos anywhere I haven't put them, but then I'm not looking around for them either.
Currently, if any one really wants to use one of my shots, they are more than welcome to it, just give me credit for the shot. |

I don't use watermarks, I don't like the really big ones too. What I did was sign on a piece of white paper, took a picture of it, and defined it as a brush preset in PS. I place it on my photos, usually really really really small bottom left/right corner.

I used to, then stopped because it got to be too much of a hassle to watermark every photo I uploaded. And as others said, if someone really wants my photo that badly, they'll remove the watermark.

i do add watermarks to my photos but since i'm just starting out, i'm thinking of removing them altogether. not really decided on it yet. some people use my old photos in their websites, even hotlinking to them (stealing bandwidth) so that posed as a problem before. when i added watermarks i don't seem to get that problem anymore. so i don't know...
