Anyone here on the forum into scrapbooking. I'm thinking about taking this up as another hobby for me to share my images with friends and family. I think scrapbooking will create a lasting medium I can pass down to future children and grandchild.
The only problem is when I go to the scrapbooking store its overwhelming, there are so many embellishments, paper styes, books ect. I really have no clue where to start. I think I would like to make my first scrapbook about my dog Makita since I already have a lot of images of her. She is also getting old and I would like to have something started here shortly so I can continue to add to it over the years she has left with me. Has anyone ever used software to help plan out a scrap book? If so what do you recommend I take a look at?

I'm not a scrapper...I just can't afford to take up any more hobbies. Have you considered digital scrapping? You can probably create your layouts in whatever software you already use. Free Digital Scrapbooking

I have been trying to get into scrapbooking for a while now. It can get expensive and time consuming! If you want to start out slow go to your store and find a "kit" there about $20-30 and come with everything you need. Except sissors, glue and pictures! It may even have ideas on how to set up the pages. Another idea is digital scrapbooking that you do in photoshop try The Best Scrapbooking Supplies On The Web - Two Peas in a Bucket for some good ideas on the digital side. You pay for the download and then you get all the layers to play with on your computer.
Enjoy!

Everyone has been telling me scrapping is expensive.
I probably won't get into it super heavy. I would like to create books for important life changing things, getting married, having a kid, getting a dog ect. I do love the digital scrapbooking idea for the nature, macro, portrait stuff. ![]() I would really like something tangible I can place in my hands and pass down. Thanks for the links I'll check them out. They have a scrap booking class starting here soon that I think I may take for fun. I'll probably be the only guy there however.

My in-laws LOVE scrapbooking...like the paper crafting kind. I think if you look up Stampin' Up or Close to my Heart they have fun catalogs to look through and templates. There are a lot of templates for digital scrapbooking that you could just copy
I'm more into digital scrapbooking myself. It's easy and cheap! I don't think I've bought one thing because there's so many freebies. I like the Sunshine Girls, Scrap Orchard and there's a forum I'm a part of it's Digital Scrapbook Memories Forums - Powered by vBulletin If you're interested in digi-scrapping, I would definitely check out the forum. Some of the ladies on there are AMAZING!

I like scrap books for the whole presentation thing. Pictures printed in an album are nice but an album built around pictures is that much cooler. It will also give family the chance to add their own pages using their style.

Scrapbooking is fantastic. But very expensive.
To start out, go to Michael's or Joann's and get a block of colored cardstock. And then wander through the aisles of single sheets of papers. Don't go overboard until you have an idea of a style. It can be lots of fun, especially if you can do it with friends! |

I now have some software called Print Explosion Deluxe. I think I will try creating a mock up design using this software then head out to the store to find similar papers and embellishments to make my first book.
