I have the opportunity to convert a 10x16 room into a studio, which I will use mostly for stock photos, and some portraits. I know it is a little small, but it will do for now. I am about to paint the room and add a new ceiling light fixture, and I am curious about any recommendations anyone might have. I know my photography lighting will control most of the light on my subjects, but does the room color make any difference? Bright colors? Dark colors? Highly reflective, or dull? And what about ceiling lights? Can I get daylight bulbs for most fixtures? Would they help at all? Or do most studio photographers simply work in the dark and let their lighting do all the work? Thanks for any insights you can offer.

I think that if it were me, for room lighting, I would use daylight bulbs in the fixtures and if you can install dimmers switches. As for the paint, I would paint the entire place with a flat white paint, then you could bounce flash off any wall without getting a color change.
