Natural light studio space big enough?

My husband and I are looking into a space where I would set up a natural light studio. The dimensions of the space are 16x24. It is a rectangle. It has a large southeastern facing window on one end.

I have read a lot about a north facing window being ideal, but I would love some feedback on this, as well as feedback on whether or not this size space sounds appropriate.

I will mainly be shooting small children and babies in this space.

A north facing window (in the northern hemisphere) will never have direct sunlight shining in it, it will always be softened. If you live in the southern hemisphere, a south-facing window would do the same thing. You can use the other, but if you put a subject directly in the window, the light will probably be harsh.
