So I decided that I would start shooting in both RAW/jpeg format. I am using a PC with Windows XP and service pack 3 installed, so otherwise up to date. My laptop with Vista will be going back to Toshiba since the hard drive failed, but I did open the camera on there and it did pull up the files in the correct files on there. So I know that it is XP with the issues. My husbands laptop also will not open the NEF files and his has XP as well.
We have tried several windows fixes suggested as well as other freeware products and still have no results. Anyone have any suggestions or have similar problems that they resolved? Thanks! |

What software are you trying to open them in? You will need a software package that reads RAW files.

You can try install Nikon NEF codec for Windows XP SP3:

I am working with them in PSE7. I was able to finally get them out of the camera using the PSE importer, but if I have any NEF files on the camera XP will not even let me open the camera through my computer. It shows nothing. I will try download the codec again.
