Default Only The Beginning

Hey guys! Ive been a reader here for awhile and decided to make my first post. First off, this site is an amazing resource for a beginner like myself to the seasoned vet. I would like to ask a few questions if its ok? I have yet to purchase a DSLR camera as of yet. I love taking pitures though and its been a hobby of mine for some time. I borrowed my brothers Nikon D80 and must say that the whole thing is quite intimidating with all of the settings and features. He has two lens'. A Nikon AF-S DX 55-200mm and a Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm. Honestly I have no clue as to which lens is used for which type of shot. Ive done google searches but nothing really sticking out. I am mainly interested in portraiture and landscapes. Ive taken a bunch of pictures with it already but it seems like im getting better results out of my point and shoot. Haha. Thats sad! If anyone has any help or maybe advice to offer me it would be greatly appreciated. Like I said this is becoming a passion and I dont want to get discouraged so easily!!! Thanks Again!!

Welcome Pantera! I agree with Zona, that area of the site is a wonderful resource. If you do get stuck though and have more questions, there are tons of people here who will give you great pointers. I hope to see some of your images in the Share Your Shots section soon...regardless of which camera you're using.

Welcome to DPS! You should just post some of your work in the SYS section. It's a good place to start. When you are thinking you want to jump in with both feet, post a shot in the appropriate critique section. When you do, just be specific with what you want critiqued. Hope to see some of your work.

Mike
