Default Well dang it all!

I just pulled a memory card out of the washer. Must have been in a pants pocket. I'm now frightened to death to put it in the computer and see what the damages are. Anyone else ever done this?

I washed a leather case that had 6 SD cards in it.

I let them air dry a few days, and they work fine to this day.

A friend of mine did it, she did the same as WooD. Let them dry for a couple days and try them then.

I haven't had it happen, yet anyway, but the first thought that comes to mind is to make sure it's completely free of moisture before putting it in anything else.

Thanks guys. I feel so silly because I know it's the card that contains my daughters wedding photos and I haven't downloaded them to my computer yet. I've pulled most of them to my flickr account but I really want to save the originals onto my hard drive.

I'll wait a few days and then cross my fingers. Maybe this will teach me to stop prograstinating.

I've done it with a USB stick and that worked fine.

Not recommended but probably safe!

I've washed the ML-3 remote for my D80 and it still works fine. The battery started to show some signs of corrosion, but it still worked. (Yes, I did replace the battery anyway.)

It will probably be fine, once it dries. But, it must be "completely" dry before you try it. You may want to try letting it sit in a small bag of dry rice for a while. This will help absorb any moisture from the inside of the card.
