No, but I think the specs on them have changed to allow much higher quality attachments.

Yes, the specs changed. If having to click on the tiny thumbnail pains you, just pass on by and respond to posts with larger pictures included instead. Plenty of both kinds on this site.

The attachment facility is the best thing about these forums-It enables one to help others with the minimum of fuss-Ken

OK I hadn't clicked on any recently *hangs head in shame*

I will now, it was the quality I found really annoying rather than the extra clicks!

I've noticed the difference: the new attachments take a bit longer to laod, but theyre of a substantially better image quality.

How so? What is unique about the attachment in this regard?

Pretty simple. They can just upload an image here and attach it instead of registering for a site like Flickr or photobucket and then learning how to use HTML or IMG tags. To a complete newb, that's not that easy.

Ok, interesting reason. I was thinking there was a bigger benefit than that.

If they registered and uploaded an image here one would think a newb could handle registering and uploading an image on flickr or photobucket as well. Then they'd only have one more step to learn (the img tag) so their images could be used on any photo forum.

After all they did manage to get their photos off their camera and onto their computer so they must have some skills. But maybe I'm giving the newb too much credit for competence?
