Exclamation Toe Nail Problem

Hi Everyone,
Every once in a while some people lose their toenails in ballet.
Well my toenail is getting ready to fall off.
How can i protect it from elements of well the beach?
Should i just wrap it with some waterproof tape?
Any suggestions?

I got into one of these stupid conversations with my coworkers a little while back. One guy lost his toenail(the big toe) & the doctor put it back on before wrapping it up. He asked why. The doctor told him that his body would not grow a new toenail if the old one isn't there. When you don't have a nail on your big toe you actually lose your sense of balance. Apparently, it's needed for stability. When I crushed my finger tip a few years back, the doctor did the same thing. He put the old nail back in place. When I asked him why he said the same thing. You will not grow a new nail without the old one being in place. I went for a few days without changing the bandage & when I did the nail fell off. When doing a followup visit, the doctor told me that it would be okay. The old nail just needs to be there for a few days. Your body will start regrowing a new nail & once it's started it doesn't just stop.

So, in conclusion, DO NOT JUST RIP IT OFF!!!

One more thing. Did you know that if you trim off the whiskers on 1 side of a cat's nose that the cat will walk in circles. I suppose trying to figure out where they went. That's another tidbit I learned during our highly intellectual conversation.

In Fact ur wrong!!! I had my toenail fall off before & the doc told me to just cut off the dead part of the toenail & just let it grow out & when the rest of the toenail dies just cut it off as it goes & then the new toenail grows behind it once it falls off.

Digidave - That smacks of an urban myth! I've heard about losing a big toe can cause problems with balance but a toenail???? My son lost a fingernail once and it was hanging by a thread so I did the decent thing and pulled it off when he was asleep. His fingernail grew back without any probs.

Thanks for posting first off.
I think i am going to do something like that.
But 1st im going to put a waterproof bandaid on it than some water proof sports tape so that nothing can get into it.
What do u think about that?
