That's not fair!
But, Australia has it the worst though. A Macbook here in America is $999, but in Australia it's about $2100 AUD. $2100 AUD transfered to USD = about $1950 USD. It'd be nice to go over to Asia though, they have some cheap electronics I've heard. Some stuff there though I've heard, like movies, are bootleg.

This is nothing new. A lot of companies charge different prices for different countries. You'll commonly hear "grey market" when refering to camera equipment...that's just camera gear sold in Asia for cheaper than you can get it in the US.

The worst offender of this is the textbook industry. A textbook here in the US costs about $100-$150 (depending on the book). The same book with the words "not for sale in the US" will sell for $20 in India. Why? Because no one in India will pay $150 for a book.

When I went back and got my MBA a couple years ago, I bought all my books from India and had them shipped here. Saved me a fortune. And the best part is, after I was done with the class I sold them on Amazon for more than I paid for them

Sorry but Hubbie is not right. the G11 is by all accounts a superb piece of kit. My brother has replaced his G9 with one and says it is far better..

Thats not quite what grey market means. "Grey market" within the camera market generaly means items that have been imported unofficially by a 3rd party rather than the manufacturer. The camera makers will generally not honour the waranty.

Stuff being cheaper in Asia is just "The Market".

When you sold your imported books in the US that was a grey market sale. Its not illegal as long as you pay the relevant taxes but manufacturers don't like it, hence grey. If you import illegally without paying the relevant taxes that is then the black market.
