Default Getting a Nikon D40
I have a question:

Currently I have a Sony DSC-H1 but I'm getting a Nikon D40. I want to make sure my shots have a high enough resolution to print as I have some friends that are wanting to buy and frame a few of my shots for their office.

My sony says it's only getting 72 ppi. Am I missing something?

Sony DSC-H1 is 5.1 MP and D40 is 6 MP. Just resize it to 300 dpi before printing.

Yep, you're missing that by the default the value in the print size field is pretty meaningless.

I would do that in Photoshop? (sorry for being ignorant!)

In photoshop

Image
Image size
check off resample
enter 300 pixel/inch

check resample
enter width and height dimensions
